Beginner Surf Lessons: Available with one of our ISA qualified coaches costing Rp.500.000 per session, or you can opt for a 4 or 5 lesson package to receive a discount. This is the perfect opportunity if travelling with your surfing partner to learn to surf in paradise!
Our intermediate surf coaching clinics have been running in January and February since 2018 and we’ve always received great feedback with many returning guests! What was once known as the “off-season” for surf charter boats needing to dry-dock to do their annual maintenance in January and February, has become known as one of the prime times to visit and surf Macaronis to score empty perfect waves while improving your surfing!
Our surf coaching clinics are planned with your surfing progress and enjoyment in mind, offered in a relaxed atmosphere to help develop your physical and mental abilities while having a great time! Our 2025 coaching clinics have a duration of 1 week per clinic over 8 weeks, but you can stay longer if you want to!
During the coaching sessions, there are 8 surfers per coach as per ISA standards, and our accommodation is limited to one surfer per room to keep a cap on surfer numbers, except in the case of surfing couples or dad and kids, where we can allow 2 surfers per room. By having your own room, you get to enjoy more privacy and comfort with a choice of queen or twin beds, and you can bring along your partner, a non-surfing companion, or the whole family if you’d like to!
Our family suites are also available if requiring more room, please enquire for details. Regular services, facilities, and activities are available to keep everybody stoked and having a great time with exciting things to do.

Meet Your Surf Coaching Team
Our surf coaches are International Surfing Association (ISA) accredited having the experience and qualifications to help you improve quickly and surf to your full potential.
Macaronis Resort will also be hosting specialist fitness coaches during each of the 4 weeks offering an optional Strength, Stretch, Breath, and Recovery (SSBR) program, while our two photographers will be providing video playback sessions for coaching purposes, showing photos of the days surfing each evening which is always a lot of fun, and offering professional photography packages to take home with you; all included in the surf coaching package!
Macaronis Resort hosts, Dedi, Wewe, and the rest of the team will be making sure everybody is happy and well looked after, with all of the regular services, facilities, and activities to take part in as well.
It’s one of the best times of the year to visit with very few other surfers around and we’re limiting participants to 20 surfers per week, so it’s best to book early to be assured of a spot. We will be regularly visiting surrounding surf breaks as well, so guests and coaches can take turns surfing at Macaronis and at the other classic Southern Mentawai breaks to enjoy some variety and to spread people around so the line-up does not become too busy.
